Accessora
European Accessibility Act

The European Accessibility Act, and where Accessora fits.

Since June 28, 2025, online shops that sell to consumers in the EU have to meet the Act’s accessibility rules. Accessora covers what software can check and repair, and shows you what needs a person.

7-day free trial on every plan. Microenterprises that provide services are exempt. General information, not legal advice.

How the Act reaches your pages

From one directive to your checkout.

The Act sets the goal. A European standard says how to measure it. For websites, that standard points to WCAG.

What still needs a person

The parts no tool can decide for you.

No tool makes a site compliant on its own. These are the checks to do yourself or with your developer. The EAA guide goes through each part of a shop.

  • Keyboard flow and reading orderTab through the checkout without a mouse. Every step should be reachable, visible and in a sensible order.
  • Whether alt text and labels make senseSoftware can tell an image has alt text. A person decides whether it describes the product.
  • PDFs and other documentsInvoices, manuals and terms need to work with a screen reader, or be offered as a web page.
  • Support channels and your termsOffer a way to reach you that does not rely on one sense, such as email or chat as well as phone.
Where to start

Install, audit, publish.

The same order works on any platform. The last step is the one that keeps new pages and theme updates in check.

  1. 1

    Add one script tag

Paste it into your site's theme or template, or install the native app on Shopify. The widget is live on the next page load.

    <!-- Accessora widget -->
    <script async src="https://cdn.accessora.io/embeds/js/latest/autoload.js?domainId=YOUR_DOMAIN_ID"></script>
  2. 2

    Audit, then fix

Scan the home page, a product page, the cart and the checkout. Fix the errors first, then re-scan to confirm.

    Publish and keep checking

Publish your accessibility statement, then re-audit weekly so new pages and theme updates do not slip back.

FAQ

Questions about the EAA.

Something else? Ask us.

Does Accessora make my site EAA compliant?

No tool can do that on its own. Accessora finds issues and tags them with their WCAG criterion, repairs some common ones in the browser on Enterprise, and gives your visitors the widget. Keyboard flow, the meaning of your content, documents and support channels still need a person.

Is the widget enough for the EAA?

No. The widget lets visitors adjust the page, for example larger text or higher contrast. It does not change your code, so a missing form label or a checkout that cannot be used with a keyboard still needs fixing. Audits find that kind of problem, and automated fixes repair some of it.

Does the EAA apply to my shop?

If you sell to consumers in the EU, very likely, wherever your company is based. Microenterprises that provide services, with fewer than 10 staff and no more than EUR 2 million in annual turnover or balance sheet total, are exempt from the service rules. Our EAA guide covers the details.

Which standard do the audits check?

Audits run axe-core, and issues are tagged with their WCAG criterion and level. EN 301 549, the standard behind the EAA, points to WCAG 2.1 Level AA for web content. Automated checks cover part of WCAG; keyboard flow and the meaning of your content need manual testing.

Which plan do I need?

Audits and the widget come with every plan. AI alt text starts on Growth, and automated fixes are on Enterprise. Every plan has a 7-day free trial, so you can run your first audits before you decide.

Does it work on my platform?

Yes. One script tag works on any site, Shopify has a native app, and the integration guides cover WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and more.
