AI alt text

Accessora finds images on your site that have no alt text, writes a description for each one and serves it to screen readers. You can read and edit every description.

How it works

  1. Step 1: The widget spots the imageOn each page, it looks for images with no alt attribute or an empty one, and sends their addresses to Accessora.
  2. Step 2: It shows up on Alt TagsEach image lands on the Alt Tags screen, queued for a description.
  3. Step 3: A description is writtenAzure AI VisionAccessora sends the image to Azure AI Vision, which writes a short description in English. This runs on its own, usually within a few minutes, while your monthly quota lasts.
  4. Step 4: Screen readers hear itThe next time the image loads, the widget sets the description as its alt text in the visitor's browser.
Nothing in your CMS, theme or product data changes. The description lives in Accessora and is applied on the page.

Switch it on

In Settings, under Language Settings, switch on AI ALT Tags Generation. Until it is on, the widget doesn’t look for images and the Alt Tags screen stays empty.

Each description written counts once. The count starts again on the first of each month. When it runs out, new descriptions stop and the Generate buttons switch off until then.

Read before you trust

AI descriptions are a first draft. They are written in English, whatever language your site uses. They can miss what matters about a product, misread text in an image or describe a decorative image that should stay silent. Check the images people rely on, such as product photos, charts and buttons made of images, and edit them.

Alt text you set yourself still wins

The widget only fills in images that have no alt text, or an empty one. If your CMS already has alt text for an image, the widget leaves it alone. An empty alt="" counts as missing, so images you marked decorative get a description too. Check those on the Alt Tags screen. The best long-term fix is still to add alt text where you upload images. Use the descriptions here as a starting point for that.
